Sure, iOS 4.2 and newer versions have AirPrint -- which lets you print from your iDevice to any of the supported printers. However, if you don't own one of the select few models, you're pretty much left without any workable printing support in iOS. That's where TruPrint comes in - if you've decided to step into the dark side and jailbreak your iDevice, that is.
TruPrint supports many more printers compared to Apple's solution, and as such has a greater chance of proving useful for your day to day printing needs. Unfortunately, a list of the exact printer models it can work with isn't supplied, but thankfully the app comes with a three-day trial so you can get an idea about how well it works with the printers around you. After the trial ends, the app costs $9.99 -- which in a 99-cent app economy does seem kind of steep. However, if you really need to print from your iOS device and AirPrint is a no go for you, you probably won't mind shelling out the cash.
TruPrint automatically discovers printers, and requires no setup whatsoever. It works on all iDevices running iOS 4.2 or newer. You can get TruPrint by searching Cydia for it. If you've decided that this alone is worth jailbreaking your iDevice, head on over to this page where TruPrint's developers give you a quick rundown of which tool to use, depending on what version of iOS you're currently on.
